This morning I woke up and like I normally do every morning before I even climb out of bed, I reached for my phone to see what was going on in the world. Also as usual, a lot of my world revolves around the sun that is all things Disney and today is no different.
This morning began the runDisney Runner’s Expo at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports for this weekend’s Princess Half-Marathon Weekend. If you are a runner (or a walk/runner) and have ever experienced a marathon, you know what an Expo is. For the non-informed, an Expo is a place where you find official race merchandise as well as lots of other appropriate vendors selling their race wares along with speakers giving talks about running, hydrating and having the right shoes, etc. For the past few years, I would be entering the shopping melee with my Sole Sisters on this day, right at opening so we could be sure to get the official merchandise items that we wanted. Unfortunately, I am not there this year, having just come back from a Land/Sea adventure that I will be writing about shortly, but my Timehop app is loving reminding me on my experiences at Expo in years past.
Another thing my Timehop is loving to show me today is how my Sole Sisters and I stayed at the then brand new Villas Grand Floridian 2 years ago today and how Grand Floridian suddenly became my favorite resort. So today I am starting a photo tour of Villa Grand Floridian and the Grand Floridian grounds, with today’s post focused on the Studio Suite.
The Villas Grand Floridian are a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort property that is part of the many luxurious resorts that make up the Disney Vacation Club (think timeshare, done the Disney way). While DVC members get first crack at renting these rooms out, they can be rented out by guests who are not part of DVC. For our group, we had a mix of DVC owners and non-owners, so we were very happy to be able to get one of these highly sought after rooms.
All the following pictures detail a studio suite that sleeps 5.
We were a group of five, yes 5, women in this trip. That means a lot of luggage and extras. While we were a tight fit when all the beds were open and in use, the studio room was more than adequate for our needs, with a queen sized bed, a full-sized sleeper sofa and a trundle-bed that is cleverly hidden below the television.
I love the split bathroom in the Studios. This was a design originally from the Disney Cruise Line ships that they incorporated into this DVC design and it worked great! It made it almost like having two bathrooms, which was greatly needed for an all girls’ trip!
Our view was amazing! We were at the corner of the building and looking straight across we could see the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort. To our right we could see the wedding chapel and the Polynesian Resort. Fireworks as well as the nightly water pageant were wonderful from this vantage point!
Don’t you just love the Villa Grand Floridian Studio Suite?! It has definitely become one of my favorite resort rooms on property. Be sure to come back for the next installment where I show you the 1 bedroom suite and we take a walk around the grounds of this beautiful resort.
Until next time, keep making the magic!
Your Peachy Queen,
Charlotte Dawn
